The Edit Movie button calls up a filmstrip timeline. It doesn’t give any scope for layout changes, but the selection of predefined styles is reasonably extensive.

This same Edit Style interface is used in the full MyDVD.
The latter calls upon a subset of the full MyDVD authoring software’s abilities, offering options to change text styles, background image, button frame and music track. Recording direct to disc can either create a video-only piece, or you can add menus in a variety of editable styles.
You’re also given the option to re-edit an OpenDVD disc you’ve already created using MyDVD, or call up CinePlayer, Sonic’s DVD and VideoCD-playing software. Create Project offers DVD authoring in DVD, DVD+VR or VideoCD formats, and Direct-to-Disc calls up a simple wizard to let you acquire footage from your video-capture device and burn it straight to disc. This takes you out of the descriptive front end to the MyDVD app itself. The main meal is still the Video section, though.

Easy Archive also lets you know how many discs of each type your chosen files will require. There’s even a category for sniffing out the DVR-MS files created by Windows XP MCE’s TV recording. We found this worked better than the music scanning in the audio section, taking a much more reasonable time to find our files.
